Dr Jenny Buchan
Jenny began her legal career in New Zealand before moving to Australia, where she advised on business sales and purchases, leasing and franchise matters. She was the first female to be accredited as a small business specialist by the Law Institute of Victoria. Jenny has researched, written and spoken extensively on franchise law including due diligence, dispute resolution, marketing funds and good faith obligations. She has supervised research into franchise law in Australia, France and the USA, and made submissions to parliamentary inquiries into franchising and consumer law. She has also examined doctoral dissertations on franchise law in Sweden and the Netherlands. Jenny was appointed Professor Emeritus by UNSW in 2020 and currently teaches Principles of Private Law at the UNSW Law School.
